From the East

Brethren, we continue to see more faces at our stated meetings. May was no exception. If yours was not one of them you missed a great time. After a delicious spaghetti dinner, we recognized all in attendance who served in our military. I was proud to be there and celebrate those whom I consider to be ‘heroes’. We also had Wor C.T. Chau, who grew up in South Viet Nam during the Viet Nam war and current WM of Joppa 40 Lodge, make a special presentation to those who served during the Viet Nam era. It was a special night for sure.

We had our Pancake Breakfast/Bring-A-Friend event with Varina Lodge on May 11. We had a good group show up and enjoy some great fellowship. Unfortunately, we had none who were non-Masons that we could share our joy and pride of freemasonry with in hopes they might ask for a petition. However, we will be having another one later in the year.

As we prepare for the Summer I want to give you a heads up on what’s ahead. In June we will welcome Wor Clyde Hott who will bring a program on Saint John the Baptist. On Saturday July 20 we will join with Varina Lodge for an ‘Ice Cream Social’ at the Masonic Home. It’s a fun time and truly appreciated by the residents. We certainly could use the help. Please give it some thought? At our July Stated we will welcome Wor Michael Joyner who will talk about the ‘William Morgan affair’. I have heard of this event involving a Mason but Wor Joyner brings more information about it including the fact that it included Virginia in the affair. Most interesting. In August I’m planning something very different for Northside Lodge. Our August Stated will be held on the second ‘Saturday’ which is August 10. See details below.

In September will welcome Wor Charles Berger, PM of Glen Allen Lodge. He is a tattoo artist and will share with us interesting facts about the world of tattooing. He spoke at the April Masters and Wardens and was very good. I hope you can make it.

Looking a little further ahead, we will be having a Past Masters Night in November. I hope, if you served Northside Lodge as Worshipful Master, you can come and reminisce with other Northside Lodge Past Masters. I’ll be contacting you individually in the meantime.

In closing, I am really excited about the progress Northside Lodge is making. Attendance is up and I’m seeing faces at our meetings and events I haven’t seen for a while and in some cases, never. It’s a real thrill to get to know more brothers in Northside Lodge. As I’ve said, I’m working hard this year in hopes that our grandsons’ grandsons may have the opportunity to take pride in being called a brother in Northside Lodge.
